50 Questions for Speaking English

Here are some questions for speaking English, and English conversation topics. These questions can be used to talk about in English. Most importantly, similar questions are in duolingo English speaking test and B1 Test/B2 Test. These questions are good for beginners and advanced learners. The strategy of answering them may be modified. 

Instructions:

1. Choose a topic, such as hobbies, food, travel, or animals.
2. Ask a question related to the topic, starting with “What”, “Where”, “When”, “Why”, or “How”.
3. The next person answers the question and asks a new question, starting with a different question word (e.g., “What” followed by “Where”, etc.).
4. Continue the chain, each person answering and asking a new question.
5. Encourage creative and thoughtful questions!

Example:

Person 1: “What’s your favorite hobby?”
Person 2: “My favorite hobby is reading. Where do you like to read?”
Person 3: “I like to read at the beach. When did you start reading?”
Person 4: “I started reading when I was 8. Why do you like reading?”
Person 5: “I like reading because it takes me to new worlds. How often do you read?”
