20 Most Common Questions in IELTs Speaking

Remember few things before you answer the questions. First, peaceful mind generates power. The more you are peaceful, the more you can talk fluently with a good connectivity of the ideas. Secondly, correct information is not needed there neither they want to test your liablity. No matter, your hobby is cooking and you tell them fishing. You prefer to tell them fishing because you can speak better on this topic as you know terminologies. Although, you do cooking, but if you can’t explain the process of cooking, try not to start this topic. Sometimes, you have the information but you cannot deliver the idea and the examiner thinks that you cannot speak. Even it happens while speaking our mother language. So, good communicative competence is required there. The questions are given below:

    1. What’s your name?
      Answer: My full name is Mubeen Shah, and people sometimes call me Muben.
    1. Where are you from?
      Answer: I’m from Lahore. It’s a beautiful place with a rich culture.
    1. What do you do?
      Answer: I have been working as a teacher but recently left this profession as I am planning to go abroad. I believe that I would continue the same profession.
    1. What do you like to do in your free time?
      Answer: My grandfather was a fisherman and I used to go with him. Fishing became my hobby with passage of time and I still spend my free time sitting near the river for cashing fish.
    1. What’s your favorite food?
      Answer: I sometimes prefer fastfood though my family says these are not good for my health. But, I can’t stop myself. I usually order online. 
    1. Do you like living in a city or countryside?
      Answer: Village life always attracts me because my mother lived in a village and my father used to work in a city. My childhood life is linked with a village therefore, I can’t forget the moments I spent there. 
    1. What’s your favorite travel destination?
      Answer: I have visited several places in Lahore but the most facinating place is Mall Road. On my bike, I always felt relaxed especially at night enjoying lights on both the corners. 
    1. What do you think about technology?
      Answer: Well, technology has really helped human beings and facilitated them in many ways but sometimes I feel we are getting habitual of technology and it is impacting our health. There was a time people used to walk on the mountains, then going upstairs and now they use lifts.
    1. What’s your favorite book/movie?
      Answer: My favourite movie is 3-idiots. I like the theme of this movie as it gives a road map to implement quality education based on self writing and conceptual thinking. 
    1. Do you have any pets?
      Answer: I currently don’t have as I find no time to take care of that. You know they require a lot of care but I used to have in my childhood. My father bought me some hens. The most exciting thing for me was to get their eggs.

      2. Answer: I love chatting with people and I have a lot of friends from different regions of the world. That’s why I have a plan to go abroad and meet new people to explore their culture especially language culture. 

      1. What’s your favorite season?
        Answer: My favorite season is [Season]. I love its [Weather/Activities]. Summers are great as we can take shower, sit in AC. Or Winters are great as we can wear more clothes for safety. More importantly, I like to eat dry fruits, keeping them in the pockets of my jacket is a memorable moment for me. 

      1. Do you like sports?
        Answer: Yes/No, I like [Sport]. I enjoy playing/watching it. We have a team and I love to spend my time with them on every weekend.

      1. What’s your favorite type of music?
        Answer: My favorite music is [Genre]. I love its [Beat/Lyrics]. I am myself a singer and I guess I can sing quite well. 

      1. Do you like trying new foods?
        Answer: Yes/No, I like trying new foods. It’s a great way to explore cultures. I visit different places to try new foods.

        Answer: My favorite holiday is [Type]. I love its [Relaxation/Adventure]. I like summer holidays as they are long but sometimes, it is so boring to sit home doing nothing.

        Answer: My future plan is to be a great teacher. I’m working hard to achieve it. I believe I can put my best services in this field as I belong to it. This way, I can serve the humanity.
