It is very easy to put this lesson into practice in real life. Take the child with you to the market and tell him not to talk, just look around and see what is going on. This will increase his observation skills and also test his intelligence when you ask him some questions when you get home. As soon as you return home, ask Tobche who was doing what. The child will say that a man was parking a car. The girl was buying food etc. Practice it on the structure below

Examples

  • He was having dinner.
  • The man was driving a car.
  • The lady was buying some food.
  • The boys were talking.
  • A boy was looking at us.
  • Kids were playing.
  • Girls were running.
  • Women were talking to the shopkeeper.
  • Shopkeeper was shouting.
  • A young girl was holding a bag.
  • They were sitting in the car.
  • They were wearing white dress.

Look at the last three sentences carefully, the verbs -holding, -sitting, -wearing show state form of an action. That time, they were not actually changing their dresses but they already had done that at home. You’re just trying the describe their appearance.
