You cannot learn tenses without practice and dialogue is the best way to practice the grammar rules that you learn in the classroom. This dialogue can help you learn past continuous tense in real life. Remember, you have to use ‘was/were’ while asking or answering the questions. In the previous post, we learnt the dialogue of Present Continuous Tense.
Anna: Hi, Tom! What were you doing yesterday at 3 PM?
Tom: Hi, Anna! I was playing football with my friends. It was a great game. What were you doing?
Anna: I was watching a movie with my family. It was very funny. Did you win the game?
Tom: Yes, we won! While we were playing, it started raining. But we continued playing.
Anna: That sounds fun! While I was watching the movie, my brother was making popcorn. It was delicious!
Tom: Yummy! What did you do after the movie?
Anna: After the movie, I was helping my mom with dinner. We made spaghetti.
Tom: I love spaghetti! While you were cooking, I was doing my homework. It was a busy day!
Anna: Yes, it was! I was also talking to my friend on the phone. We planned a playdate for next week.
Tom: Sounds great! See you tomorrow at school, Anna!
Anna: See you, Tom!
